Sion Minion Throw and Jhin Q

So I was playing a ranked game (with Sion support and Jhin bot) and there were multiple occasions in which Sion would throw a minion which would slow me, and then somehow (from way out of range) Jhin's Q would hit that minion and then hit me. It caused me to take a lot of damage and it was almost impossible to predict when it would occur.

This seems a little odd to me because the Q from Jhin went way off the screen and I couldn't really see/understand what was happening. Any thoughts?
