Unable to hear Anivia's auto attacks

When in game, I am only able to sometimes hear part of Anivia's auto attack or none at all. This is repeatable in every game, irrelevant of type of game. Have attempted:

• repairing the client.
• playing with sound settings.
• Playing sound through different sound devices on my PC

all to no avail.
