*Failed to select a champion* within 2 seconds [Client]

I was about to play one of my promotion games in ranked when the queue went a little buggy. First there were only 4 people that had accepted the game, then it took a few minutes to respond to what should have been a re-queue and instead it cancels my queue. So I start up another queue, after about 20 seconds it skips the "Accept/Decline" Menu and just starts loading champ select (for about half a minute).. next thing I know I'm in champion select and all the bans have already gone through (But no one had chosen their champions yet). All this would have been all fine and dandy....ish... if when it was finally my turn to choose my champion I had more than 2 seconds to choose one before being kicked from the lobby for not choosing a champion... which of course resulted in an automatic loss for one of my promotion games...

Was super lame and disappointing, but I'm not heart broken over it, I'll probably win my next game.. but still, really frustrating that this happened in promo -.-

there's really not much I can say about reproducing this... first time it's happened and by the time I realized what was happening it was a little too late. I clicked ranked game... solo... and then I waited... clicked accept... and then the weirdness ensued

Don't worry too much about it. It's a long standing Server bug where packets start walking over each other and yours get trampled. For some reason, some how, Riot puts promotion games on a different sub-server and has these kind of issues. I've had the same problem in many of my promotion games, but never others.

In short, it's not you, it's the server.

The "fix" is to have the right holes in your firewall open, but I'm sure you've already got all of them open. It wouldn't hurt to double check, but I seriously doubt that is the cause. Like I said, the server that was hosting the game probably got overloaded and you got pushed out.
