attack move on cursor bug (doesn't always prioritize whats closest to cursor) Riot respond pls ty =)
short version: sometimes when issuing an attack move on cursor command directly on top of an enemy champ it will instead choose to auto a minion that's farther away from the location of the click than the enemy champ was
question and poll below
i'm not the greatest when it comes to mouse dexterity and accuracy. tie that together with the nasty habit of spamming my clicks/commands and you got the makings of the worst adc in NA. often times ill miss click and issue movement commands next to the real target i wish to auto attack, especially when it comes to kiting and split second, heat of the moment situations. because i don't have most confidence in my clicking accuracy, i was ecstatic when i heard riot added an attack move on cursor feature. "you mean all i have to do is make sure i click close to them? ggez! that's the only thing that was keeping me from challenger! LCS hear i come!" i then looked up how to bind it to my right click and never looked back. it was the sole reason why adc went from being an unplayable role and least favorite to being my new favorite and most played role.
one ongoing bug that's been happening since i started using attack move on cursor when it came out is that it doesn't always prioritize the target that's closest to the location the command was placed. when i notice the bug, it's almost always an enemy champion that's my intended target and closest target to the click. this is an issue that happens occasionally. not sure on the exact cause but, it can happen a few times a game and other games it wont happen at all. ill see if i can get a clip of it happening while i play today. i play a lot of jhin
so i mostly see the bug while using him but, i have seen it happen while playing other adcs as well so the issue is not exclusive just to him.
imagine: you're trading real heavy with the enemy bot lane, you
get the adc super low under their tower and you're sitting on your
4th shot. "Jhin
Ready." you flash in first, well
within range of the enemy adc, then attack move on cursor command
directly on top on the adc but, instead of poppin that fool followed by
casually trotting away while flashing your lvl 7 mastery emote as a display
of dominance for all to witness and take heed of... you actually proceed
to do a 180 and kill the **** out of that caster minion behind you 1100
units or so away from where you clicked... #LCSbigplays
this situation has happened more times than my self esteem is willing to admit. it's happened enough to the point i've had several situations where i've taken precautions and made a conscious effort to slow down, take an extra moment to ensure my cursor and click are on point after the flash and that nothing else is closer to my click and the bug still happens sometimes. the bug happens from time to time regardless if flash is involved but i do believe attack move on cursor may have a issue with flash because most of encounters with this bug involve flashing into range of my intended target then issuing the command. over time i've practiced and have gotten much better with my mouse dexterity. even when using the attack move on cursor command, most of the time my clicks are on the target directly but, considering the frequency of the bug occurring compared to the confidence in my mouse accuracy and the occasional tendency to click spam commands, i find that using the attack move on cursor still produces more accurate and consistent results with what i intend to attack.
it happens to me frequently enough and for long enough that i've come to believe this may be an issue. comment to let me know if you have noticed any issues with attack move on cursor commands similar to mine or if you suspect that this "bug" is actually the results of my garbage wood-5 mechanics and that it'd be best if i uninstall... thank you for your time and responses =D
also maybe add an attack move champs only on cursor?
