Cleanse doesn't work on Malzahar ult

I played AP Ez against an AD Malz and I won. But, all throughout the game cleanse didn't work on Malz ult. Now I could be just stupid, because I've been playing since season 3 and this was like my first time using cleanse. But shouldn't it work like quick silver sash?

It will cleanse off the suppress like intended but it will not cleanse the damage.

Cleanse only works on most CC's and that's it. It does not work on Suppressions or Knockups. Malzahar's ultimate is a Suppression, so Cleanse does not work on it.

Just had a game vs Malzahar and can confirm that cleans does NOT free you from his ult. You can't even use it while in his ult. Kind of stupid if you ask me.
