Clicking 'Accept game' when it pops up in que, but champion select doesn't appear!

This has happened to me quite a number of times, where I would be in queue waiting for a game to be made, then i click accept, but Champion Select doesn't come up. Instead, the regular home screen of the client is still there, but i can hear the music and sounds as if i were in Champion Select. The worst part about this is that I will ALWAYS get a time ban from rejoining queue and I would certainly like to not have my account continuously being hit by the leaver ban system for something I didn't cause myself...

HOW CAN I STOP THIS RIOT?
