So, I was in champion select, and then all of a sudden, it goes back to the home menu and says, "**Group Disbanded". So then I try to go back into queue, but now I have to wait 5 minutes. I know it's not that long, but it's not fair how I was in queue and now I have to wait for nothing.

This means that you did not lock in either your champion pick or a ban. If you did lock in from your perspective, then you lagged/disconnected from the pvp server. If it's the latter case, you are lucky that it dodged the game before it began since you would probably be lagging/disconnecting during the game otherwise.
