PvP.net is not working for me and my friends

while the game status shows that ranked is disabled due to a glitch/bug, I cannot currently play any form of match and an error message pops up saying PvP.net is down (paraphrased). I hope that this does get resolved soon. I tried restarting League but it does not appear to be working and other players I know are also having the same issue.
