New Patch Lead To Unknown Direct X Error?

Unknown DirectX Error

I was playing ranked just fine a day or two ago with no substantial issues at all however, with the new update i found the following issue had occurred;

  • I could access the client perfectly fine, Joined a ranked game and completed the champion select screen, but when the client went to load the loading screen the following message appeared over my desktop instead.

"An unknown directx error has occured..."(refer to the link).

This costed me LP however that's not a big deal to be honest, just thought to report this in. Did anyone else experience this issue? I know that a lot of reports have come in about graphic issues and bugs with the new patch.

Also, my driver is up to date and graphics card is running fine. After the incident i played OW and WT for a few hours on high graphics and had no issues at all. I also rebooted my computer after the incident to see if it would fix the problem , however it did not.

While this is indeed a bug, it would be found faster by the Riot Poros if it was in Help&Support. That way they can gather all such cases in one spot.

If anyone is having this problem I solved it by going to device manager and disabling my display adapter it started running the game but they already remade i'm going to enable it again and see if it just needs a restart because sometimes it works fine. ill post again if i find out anything new. i got about 10 games with 20min low priority queue... sucks syndra balls :(

I legitimately just restarted my computer and it got fixed. Y'all windows 10 users try this at home.

I know this is an old post, BUT i found a solution. Nothing worked for me from ALL of the suggestions that can be found on google, so I contacted Riot themselves and they actually gave me a very good solution.

Please try the following:

  1. Navigate to C:\Riot Games\League of Legends\Config
  2. Open game.cfg file with notepad or notepad++
  3. Find the string: WindowMode=0
  4. Replace "0" for "1". It should look like WindowMode=1
  5. Save and close file and launch custom game to test.

Yes it will be windowed, but the game works.

Hope this helps fix the problem now in 2017 / 2018

I have just started getting this issue on patch 7.23 with the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update. Issue did not occur before I updated windows. Gonna try windowed mode and see if everything works.
