Client Freezing During Champ Selection

So, in the past few ranked games I have had the client just straight up freezes. And now I have a queue dodge on my record because your damn client froze and I couldn't pick a champ. Like, what the hell riot?

Exactly what happens is about halfway through champ select (after bans) people start choosing champs. Their timer drops to 0 but doesn't move on to the next person in line. Then, after about 30-40 seconds the client catches up with itself. I have no idea what would cause this, but god dammit I just want to play the game and not have to worry about getting a god damn mini ban for something I can't control.
