game keeps blacking out

I can run the game at over 100 fps on low settings but every couple of seconds or if I'm lucky minutes it black screens for about 5 seconds and that's a stable 5 seconds, I've started to count the time and its consistent. I'm wondering if there's anyone else with the same problem and how they fixed it or how to fix it.
