Jayce switching to hammer form

Whether there is a Jayce on the enemy team or on my team whenever he switches to hammer form my game freezes for about a second. It's not just me the friends I play with tell me their game freezes also. This makes it hard to know what's happening during a team fight, or when I go for an insec kick on lee sin but my game freezes. Has anyone else been experiencing this?
