Game started 4v5

Hello fellow summoners,

Earlier today me and my two friends were dynamic queuing when we encountered a problem that I'm hoping noone else has experienced. Queue pops and we all join into champion select. Before all the summoners have even selected their champions (mind you Elite Riven already picked Rengar) a message popped up in our chat saying that "Elite Riven has left the game". Naturally we thought we'd just get booted from the lobby and we'd go through the motions again, but the timer kept on ticking down. None of us wanted to dodge because we were all in promos, so we let the timer tick down to 0. The loading screen booted up as per usual except Elite Riven was nowhere to be found. Riot please.

Long story somewhat short: we played the game out 4v5, did surprisingly well in early game skirmishes, but could not overcome the lane pressure that the extra summoner provided.

Needless to say we were all a little choked losing a promo game in such a way, made worse by the fact that it was our first game of the day. Has anyone else come across anything like this? Being forced into a game with a summoner who has already quit and left the champion select? Let me know so I don't feel so cheated alone.
