Malzahar Malefic Visions Doesn't Pass On Kill

In multiple bot games and online games that I have played recently with free week rotation , whenever I kill a while Malefic Vision is affecting her, it will not pass on. It probably has something to do with her passive but it is very annoying and has ruined many a good moment where I could have chained multiple kills together. I have not tested it but I believe this is true for all champions with revive passives. I can understand it not passing on say, and (ult), but zyra doesn't revive. once you kill her she stays dead, so why doesn't it pass on?
