Upgrading Permanent Skin

I just got Blood Moon Diana from the hextech chest and I tried to upgrade the skin to a permanent. All that happened was it took the essence but didn't upgrade and now I have not enough essence to get it. I ended up disenchanting the skin to see if it was a visual bug and I ended up losing it, which I'm fine with, just mad I lost the essence.

Tried restarting client, didn't do anything.
