Queueing for draft(normal) results in ranked queue

I queued up for a normal draft game today and I got put into a ranked queue. I won the game and didn't realize that I was in a ranked game until I looked and saw that I had gotten lp for it in the post-game lobby. Is this something completely new? Riot can't force you to play ranked, but were mistakes made or something? I'm curious to know where this goes.
