Garen's ultimate

Multiple times now i will use Garen's ultimate and the animation goes off but if they flash or i lose vision (they walk into bush) my ult cancels and doesn't go off. I understand that if the animation goes off that the damage and ability is supposed to finish regardless of distance or vision changing.
