[CLIENT] allows you to join a game without having the game client installed/installed properly?

This is a poor bug report, sorry - I panicked a bit because I had been placed in game and wanted to get back in right away; I did not get the exact error message.

What I expected: The League Client would prevent me from joining a game if League is not installed or not installed properly.

What happened: I was able to join a game and go through champ select with no sign that anything was wrong until the game could not launch because of missing files.

Earlier this week I upgraded my CPU and motherboard. Because of this I had to reinstall Windows 7. I did not do a full reformat, just the quick and dirty custom version so I could retrieve all my old files from Windows.old.

  • After reinstalling Windows 7, the C:\Riot Games folder was preserved.

  • In C:\Riot Games\League of Legends, I was able to open the LeagueClient, however, when I searched for League or LoL in the Start Menu search bar, nothing would pop up.

  • After opening the League Client, it performed a small update (this was two days ago). I was able to log in and had a Play button.

  • Today, I opened the client and started a normal game to participate in the April Fool's Event.

  • I went through draft pick, etc just fine.

  • Then, the lobby closed and I received a message saying that the game could not launch because it was missing a file (a bunch of letters and numbers in the name) and that I needed to reinstall the game. I did not think to capture the file name before exiting, sorry.

  • I confirmed that League of Legends did not appear in my installed Programs list.

  • I downloaded and installed the game.

  • I sorted the C:\Riot Games\League of Legends folder by Date modified to try to identify what had been missing, but wasn't able to determine what it was.

  • Went into a practice game this time after being scolded by for leaving the last game (sorry team T_T) and confirmed I can now play the game.
