Karthus Ultimate Death Bug

When Karthus is already channeling is ultimate and I'm already dead, and come to life a second or two before he finishes his channeling I still take damage. How is this able to even target me when I'm still considered dead when he beginnings channeling.

It targets and hits you at the end of the channel, the beams of light is just an animation.
