League of Legends crashes immediately upon entering game (Ubuntu)
While I know it's not officially supported, I figure posting here can at least help Riot gauge some interest. So, I recently tried to get League of Legends working in WINE after switching to Linux full-time. So far, World of Warcraft works flawlessly, and most of my Steam games work, except for League of Legends.
Well, the client works great. It's an electron app, no surprise there. However, the game itself crashes immediately upon trying to go into a game (to ensure I didn't ruin the game for anyone else, I opted to attempt my first connection in a practice tool game).
The error that gets output is this:
"A critical error has occurred and the process must be terminated. Would you like to create a crash dump to aid the developers in troubleshooting this issue? This may take up to 5 minutes. NOTE: The process may appear unresponsive during this time"
Now, doing some research, I see that the error is related to the anti-cheat service crashing and then bringing the game down with it. Now, I know this probably gets posted a lot, but this doesn't:
I work in software quality assurance professionally. I am willing to work with you guys (as a volunteer) to get this anti-cheat service working in Ubuntu under WINE 3.18. I can provide system information, crash dumps, even test out builds for you guys. I just want to play a game I haven't played in months again with my friends.
