[GAMEPLAY] Mouse Accuracy Issues when WIndows Task Bar on on Top w/ Screen Scaling

This issue is prevalent with Windows 8.1 and 10 - I just upgraded.

Defect Replication: Step 1. I don't think you need a high resolution screen to do this, but I have a 3200 x 1600, so i need to apply screen scaling to 150% so I can see stuff. So goto your display settings and adjust for increased scaling. Check this link for more details: https://www.thurrott.com/windows/windows-10/4597/windows-10-feature-focus-display-scaling

Step 2. Switch your Task Bar to the top, yes, like a Mac. So your start button/task bar/system clock is on top - just to clarify.

Step 3. Play game as normal. My in game screen resolution is 1600 x 900 (not the native 3200x1600). What you will find is your mouse click is not accurate, it will click above where the mouse pointer is showing. This affects all in game actions as the click is 'shooting high'. A right pain in the ass when trying to click the 'X' to close the shop.

Workarounds: I've had this issue for awhile so I have workarounds now.

  • In game, alt tab out to the Desktop and move the Task Bar to the bottom of the screen.

  • Change the resolution to something else in game, that will fix it. I sometimes change it back to the resolution I like playing with, but you don't need too.

  • Before starting the game, adjust the Task Bar to 'auto hide'. Play game as normal, mouse accuracy should be ok - this is my preferred fix now.

Summary: That's it, its been buggy me for ages! Let me know if you need more details.
