Play button disabled for 5+ minutes inbetween games.

I just got back into league and never had this problem before. I've repaired the client and uninstalled completely (even deleting the league registry files) and reinstalled. I've reset network winsock, ip and dns through cmd: netsh winsock reset netsh int ip reset ipconfig /flushdns restarted computer

After doing all of the above, I'm still seeing the Play button top right grayed out, can't click on it. If I hover mouse over the Play button I get the following message:

**"We aren't able to create a lobby right now. Please exit the client and reopen it to try again." ** While either waiting 1-5 minutes allows me to create a lobby, I am curious to see if others are experiencing this issue and would also like to bring it to Riot's attention if the issue is widespread. Though a Google search brings up others who have had this issue, theirs either differs slightly in that they cannot ever create a game lobby and the issues that pop up on various other websites are not within (1-2 months) recent.

Please respond if you are experiencing issues and/or if you have come across potential solutions to the issue.

Thank you sincerely in advance.

I've been having the exact same problem and have found at least 5 more bug reports for the same thing. I haven't found a solution yet but will let you know if I find anything or if I see a posting on one of the other threads about this bug

I don't know if this is a permanent fix to the issue or if this is what even fixed it, but after resetting my modem/router last night I went to bed and haven't had the issue since. I'll let you know if the issue resurfaces.

Nvm it's back but not as bad as before. 30 seconds - 2 Minute intervals of 'Play' being gray.

Well at least it isn't just me. It's been happening since the last patch for me. I even tried a reinstall to a new folder location, and it didn't help.

Edit: Adding, when the lobby finally turns clickable, there's a good chance that I still can't join a game. It will usually say, "LoL is currently patching. Please try again in a bit" and then kick me out of the lobby.

This is very frustrating.

🖐🏽 Hi there!

Reinstalling isn't going to help with this issue, it's typically due to a bad connection between the network and the client servers.

🌐 I recommend running through this connectivity guide 🌐 and let us know if your issue is resolved or not.

I do appreciate the suggestion, but I actually tried that before reinstalling. Although I've been playing fine with the exact same setup for months now, I still attempted the guide and even changed DNS settings as per the recommendations. It may have resolved a related issue with the client randomly thinking I was offline, but it did not resolve the lobby issue. Again, this just started after the patch Tuesday. Since then, the client seems to think it's patching and can't create a lobby. If you can provide me with an IP, I'll set up a monitor over night.

Grab Riot's Hextech Repair Tool and check all boxes under "General"

#General

  1. Run ping test
  2. Sync system clock
  3. Gather System & LoL logs

#DNS

Select the "Use Public" option

#Firewall

Select the "Add firewall exception" option

#Game Do not select anything under game

Afterwards, test to see if they Play button works, if not

Where are you experiencing the issue? League Client (eg. the window after logging in)

What type of technical issue are you experiencing? Connection - I'm seeing "Attempting to Reconnect..." or my ping is much higher than normal. (eg. Disconnecting from chat or Rubberbanding in-game.)

Ensure to attach the folder named "LoL logs" to the request.

I'll do this if I am still experiencing issues in the A.M. right now, it's difficult keeping my last eye open. hehe thanks for your assistance.

What's odd is that, if this is indeed an due to an issue with connection to Riot's servers, I'd be experiencing very frequent and long disconnects in-game. But I'm not experiencing that at all. So this must be a very subtle network issue relating only to the game client's connection to the server? Perhaps it is an ISP conflict - ISP - Spectrum.

Annoying issue, but not game-breaking.

Edit: nevermind, it's wigging out again. This reminds me of how the client sometimes times out and disconnects from the store. I already tried the hextech repair yesterday before Riney suggested it, but I'm going to use it to get logs and send in a ticket.

FYI: I submitted logs, and support responded with it is a known issue since patch 8.17 and they're working to resolve it. They said it may help to stay off the home screen once the lobby becomes active. I guess I can stop trying random system changes for now.
