MALZAHAR ULT NOT WORKING

hello..i just purchased malzahar today and immediately i noticed that his ult wasnt working..after i tried two matches i went and searched a youtube vid of his ult.. to see if i was doing something wrong..well im not lol and i was wondering if this was common?

If you move while you are channeling his ult, it will cancel. This includes casting abilities (except ignite and perhaps DFG)
