Appearing Offline to Friends

Recently, a lot of my friends have been messaging me after I invite them to a game to tell me that they had no idea I was on until they received a game invitation from me. I would apparently show up in their "Offline" list and not appear as Online (so it wasn't that we accidentally deleted each other). I am able to message my friends and send out game invites (ranked and normal) even though I appear as offline to them. When I message them, the dot next to my name is grayed out as if I am offline as well. I'm not using the mobile app at all either.

I looked through a similar post today and saw that someone else had the same issue. They said it was fixed when they changed their status, so I tried to do the same thing, but I still appeared offline to my friends. Is there something I can do to fix this so that I can appear Online when I am on?

I want to know the opposite, how do you appear offline to your friends? O_o

I had this issue and found the fix. If you have < or > in your status it will cause this. Delete your entire status both on the game client and the mobile chat client if you use that too, relog, and the issue should be fixed!
