Sivir Spellshield against Trundle Bite

I just finished a game where I was playing Sivir. I was laning as usual and spellshielding against Ezreal poke, and I saw that Trundle was playing very agressive. I decided to save spellshield for his bite only to find that every time I tried to block the damage it wouldnt work. At first I thought maybe I had mistimed my ability, but through further attempts to spellshield his bite I confirmed that it was not an error on my part but must be a bug in the game. This consisted throughout the entire game and ended in my death multiple times.
