pvp.net patcher kernal problem

every time I attempt to download league, a pop up comes up saying "PVP.net Patcher Kernel has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available." I've done everything I can think of to fix this. anyone have any ideas?
