I was wondering if anyone else was having ping spikes since the last patch. I used to have them hit 200 at worst, and the typical spike was about 130. Today I hit a ping spike over 2000 and its making me useless in game and its pissing off my teammates because I'll die and find out like five seconds later.
This is really frustrating that Riot is completely ignoring this issue. It's unacceptable that they have not at least posted something recognizing this issue that is ruining so many peoples experience on this game. Every game I play I get HUGE lag spikes that eventually lead to a constant "Attempting to Reconnect" message, leaving me unable to move, but able to see everyone else moving at normal pace. It constantly gets me killed and puts my teammates against me for something that is beyond my control. This is not a problem on our end RIOT! No other game I play gives me any issue like this. Please stop ignoring us! Give us hope that we won't have to abandon this game for something else.
I'm having huge lag and even a DC at almost all my matches since the patch and now I'm wondering if it's me or league servers. My normal ping were around 80s but now Im around 130s.
My ping is now constantly at 144 instead of 113, and the game seems to get constant packet losses. It's absolutely unplayable right now; even auto-attacks feel flimsy. This doesn't happen in other MOBAs.
Its not just since 4.18 for me, it was 4.17 that started this nonsense. Constantly having to reconnect because of freezing out and getting stuck on 'attempting to reconnect' when a quick restart fixes it EVERY FUCKING TIME.
RIOT, this is beyond unacceptable.
I just played a game where my ping would not drop below 500 the ENTIRE game. Got screamed at the entire time because I'm "bad".

Yea first off im not the only person that has been experiencing this issue your boards/forums are full of people complaining about this same issue. Yet not a single staff member is addressing it, instead you are just sending people to support and nothing comes of it.
I will have a couple games perfectly fine then out of nowhere i get a spike to 500 ping, my character wont respond but i can see everything else in game moving fluidly and chat works fine for a couple seconds
if you continue to spam things it just eventually dcs you but you stand in the same spot. when you try to relog back in the game denies you access and tells you the game has crashed i really dont see how this is anyhow my fault and deserving of a disciplinary action, so another words because this company cant address a problem on their end you basically are telling me im not allowed to play cuz you dont want to fix the issue?
Funniest part is ive never experienced such bad tech support in any other game.
I never really had any lag problems and since this last patch I have so much delay in my movement and ability launch, its kind of annoying :/
lately whenever i play i keep getting the "attempting to reconnect screen" and its just not time to time its every 2minutes, LITERALLY. during champ loading screen my ping is at 80-120 like usual but once i go in game it just suddenly skyrockets to 1000+ and then goes to 500 and stays frozen..it only happens after minions spawn too not before that. and my other online games such as diablo3, are working fine. if someone knows how i can fix this it would be very much appreciated ^_^.
I have this same issue, it happens in a specific way, my ping jumps to upward of 1K and then flatlines at 500 signalling that it is time for me to exit game and try to get back in, which wont happen for at least 6 attempts at reconnecting, and usually ends up with me returning 5-10 minutes later.
Not only are they ignoring this issue they refuse to lift suspension caused by their faulty servers

PLZ RIOT FIX THIS PROBLEM. SINCE 4.18 I KEEP ON DCING AND CAN SEE OTHERS MOVEMENTS FOR LIKE 5 SECONDS THEN IT ALL FREEZES. I HAVE TO CLOSE THE CLIENT THEN RECONNECT TO PLAY AGAIN. THEN 1 MIN LATER I DC. I HAVE BEEN DEMOTED 3 TIMES!!!
Happens on EUNE too. I usually have solid around 50 ping. But now since the latest patch almost every game it spikes to over 1k at least twice per game for about a minute.
Ditto. I've made and posted in several threads about this. It started in 4.17, and two more of my friends have been experiencing the same issue for weeks and no longer log on because of it. It is very disappointing that not once has Riot acknowledged this gamebreaking bug, and it is alienating a significant portion of their player base.

4.18? Try the past few months! I live on the east coast, it jumped about 30 ping like 2 months ago.
Same for me. Normally have 25-35 ping, now i have around 70 with constant spikes to 500+. 70 isn't even that bad its the annoying spike that have costs me dozens of kills. I dive in for a kills lag and then die. I mouse over my ping and see 500 got even 2000 today and stuck on attempting to reconnect. At first i thought it was my internet, but then since all i have to do is close the client and reconnect i knew it wasn't. This thread also reassures me.
Riot isn't competent enough to fix the lag issues. They would rather spend the hundred of millions of dollars making skins to make more money rather than spending money to fix the lag issues affecting players.
I have been having really bad ping ever since the patch normal ping spikes for me are like 109 at the most but now I have 3000 every second this needs to stop please fix I had to leave a game just now because of it. This Is really pissing me off league Is kinda my life and I know Its sad to say but this game is and Im pretty sure for alot of other peopl it is aswell please fix I will not play another game till this Is fixed
It is happening for me as well. It's been happening since the previous patch, still no news from Riot about it.
My ping since this patch will not go lower than 200, and it's quite frustrating to have to play in this sort of condition. I've had to reconnect several times, about five in my recent game. Riot needs to fix their shitty servers.

same issue. I am so mad about this. Im down from Gold IV to Gold V because of this unplayable lag. If things get worse next patch, I ll definitely abandon this game. Riot, pls, your server is absolutely garbage. I was throwing money on the skins and that's how you gave back? Ignoring us all the time!
same here, playing on NA from S.Korea, used to have 150 - 180, now 200 is the average. Frustrating.
At first I thought my computer was crapping itself because riot has always been good at at addressing issues with their game whether it be a bug for a champion lag issues ping spikes the list goes on so when my game started seizing up everytime I got into a match I honestly thought it was my computer and so I took it to the shop, got it fixed, hell I even factory reset my computer (which took me weeks to save up the money to do) so imagine my disappointment when I re-install my favorite game only to have the same issues occur not because of my system but because you failed to notify your players who have spent tons of money (I've spent roughly 200 dollars on this game in the course of 2 years) that there may be an issue with your game. Do you care about your player base? Or are you just in the famous words of Dunkey "taking our money and running", because fuck us LoL is a global hit... seriously get over yourselves and fix your game or you will sink fast!
Same here. Every 10 seconds or so, ping will spike and jump around. Like there is packet loss or something. IDK what the hell is going on, but it is unplayable.
I'm done with this, I cant even play a game, it's worse and worse everytime i want to play, this is frustating, I have lag spikes over 3000 and still my conection is good, I dont even wanna play now, thanks to this bug and riot dont care about this, this is pretty bad I hate it. Over 15 disconections every single game.

I remember precisely right before the big maint for patch 4.20 came out I started getting huge ping spike.. Before I was at 79-84 ping, now I'm at 94-98 and sometimes it jumps to 170, really annoying

Same here. Since the season ended my ping keeps spiking a lot, too.
Usually I play with stable 187 - 196 ms(perfectly fine for playing), but now it spikes up to 240 ms, goes up and down which makes the game unplayable sometimes.
But everytime I ask during a game I seem to be the only one experiencing this. I dunno if it's because of my internet or because of Rito having made any changes/adjustments to their servers.
I too, have this problem. Me and my brother both try and play and every 5 minutes or so the ping will jump about 2000. Then I stay still while the rest of the game happens in real time. I am a sitting duck and cannot alter or fix it from my end.
Yeah I'm having an issue with continuous lag spikes throughout the entirety of all my games, no matter how good the internet has been at several different locations. And I've also turned down every option in video but this still doesn't help. It all started with this new patch, I had a game where I reconnected 15 or more times, all lasting about 30 seconds. Now it won't display reconnecting but will freeze up about every 15 seconds, abilities won't go off, and i will be in random spots where I had clicked several different times. The game is always trying to catch up and it is unplayable.
I got the same problem as well in the past 2 weeks. Nothing changed on my PC or at my provider, but I've checked everything. The problem comes from Riot ): Please fix it, even Aram is bad like this.
I don't like saying this but, I'm glad its not just me because now i'm %100 sure its not anything with my stuff. I've been wondering why my usual 52 ping has been spiking up into the thousands it just didn't make any sense till now. I do hope that this is fixed soon or i'm going to fully switch over to heroes of the storm since i've been playing that a ton more since this game can't be played.
wow i cant believe this so now i know that i cant even play with my ranked team or even enjoy this game because riot wont even care to notice this problem. how dissapointing
Yeah, this has happened to me every time they patch something. About two weeks ago everything was fine but my ping now spikes to 200-600 on average when it used to be constant at 42 ping with 150mbps download speed and 40mbps upload speed. Now, I am forced to sit and watch my champion get poked down or get constantly shot at by a turret. I've been looking all over forums for a fix but nothing has come up.
So this is still happening and what riot has nothing to say about it, I thought it was my computer or internet but it turns out its the game and they arent doing jack, I have bought two comps since and changed my router twice this is horrible I thought they were working on a north american server fix but apparently they are just being all tom dick and harry about it... If anybody has a solution for anyway to slightly reduce ping please help...
This started happening recently for me, very unusual. Once a game my ping will spike into the thousands, sometimes it will be at 500 like others mentioned. Once that spike happens after a short amount of time the attempting to reconnect pops up, ive left it attempting to reconnect up to 10 minutes before (just so I could know the result waiting would have). Interestingly enough, because this problem has become so common place, I've found that as soon as it happens all I have to do is exit the game and reconnect and then bam, ping is back to normal. So I have a bit of take away from this. 1. The issue cannot be my computer/internet connection because if I leave the attempting to reconnect screen up, nothing will happen. However If i exit the game and reconnect, it goes back to normal. Another thing I would like to mention is this same exact problem happened to a friend of mine I regularly duo with. One thing we both shared in common is we use curse voice. This problem started happening for him the day we started using curse voice after a major update had come out for it. That day I didn't run into those problems, however the next day I did and hasn't gone away since. I don't know how relevant that is, just thought I'd throw that out there. Rito please!
Hopefully the riot members will fix this madness since Worlds is over.
