Nunu E & Q sporadic behavior
Screenshot above for reference.
I've got several games on nunu in the past few months, and noticed at about patch 9.14 he suddenly got issues with his E and W aim.
I thought at first it was just my mouse or my ain suddenly got crap, but testing in practice tool confirmed otherwise. I never had a problem prior to that patch, though maybe I just didn't notice.
It seems sometimes, randomly, the aim alignment to the cursor for these abilities is off, it's significantly so in some cases for W.
With the W i believe i figured out the main cause, as it happens a lot in the jungle. It seems that W essentially activates a move command to the cursor, using league's pathing. If your cursor is over an obstacle, it can sometimes cause undesired effect on the direction of travel. It can cause nunu to go completely opposite the direction you intended as pathing might have made him go that way, even though you arent actually intending to travel to the spot your cursor is in, but rather just that direction. This also seems to happen even if you already have a move command going, as it's replaced when you hit W. I tested this in the practice tool and it is somewhat easy to reproduce. In my screenshot I am standing near river bush opposite of blue, I put my cursor over blue buff, fully expecting to crash into the wall, but instead nunu usually paths down, as he would if I clicked to move there. A couple of times (Twice) I had him go completely 180 degrees off, which I believe is a different bug entirely which that same bug seems to effect his E as well. In this particular case it helps you for sure, but I have had a similar effect several times for the negative, snow balls suddenly crashing into walls as they went a completely different direction that I intended. It seems to immediately sync to your cursor once it starts up, which can cause me to drastically overcorrect and crash as well. Happens a lot in bot Tri-bush I have noticed.
I should mention, it doesn't seem to happen every time. I repositioned nunu at this spot in the screen shot several times in the practice tool and sometimes he would crash into the wall as expected. I can't tell for sure if I am in the same position 100% obviously, but it almost seems like it's random.
I mentioned sometimes it goes almost 180 degrees off, way off of cursor direction. I get this issue with his E sometimes as well. Sometimes the E will be maybe 25 degrees off, other times it's way off. I notice this less with the E, but that's probably as missing doesn't cancel the whole abilities so it's less frustrating and noticeable. There have been times though when I am chasing an enemy, hovering my cursor on them, only to have snowballs shoot some random direction. It almost seems as if his E is based on pathing as well. I sat nunu in the same spot, this time moved the cursor around, stopped it and hit E. Activated it twice without touching the mouse and got two different directions from it, without moving or having a hand on the mouse, one was towards the cursor, one was that 25 degree difference. Similar to the direction it takes the W snow ball. I couldn't get the 180 degree difference in practice tool, so it's possible that it was just me swinging the mouse in game, or that it just is more rare. The E snowballs also seem to more frequently be accurate, but I did get it twice after about 27 activiations of the E. I also noticed it doesn't seem to happen if you just keep your cursor stationary for a bit before hitting E, as in, you have to move your cursor around a bit then let it sit before hitting E to get it to miss. It's possible this isn't required though, it's just how I was able to get it to happen, otherwise it would not happen if I just held my cursor in one spot and kept hitting E.
Curious if anyone else has had this issue?
I usually am at 22ms and have around 100fps.
