Permabanned for third party programs

My account of 6 years just got banned for a third party program... can someone explain why this happened? I just got to gold after being hard stuck in silver for two seasons.. seems unfair after I put much money into this game, just to get banned without warning for something I haven't done...

Update: So checked my match history and found someone hacked my account and played a howling abyss game, which probably got me hacked. Riot can you implement a system where if you log into a new device, you send a verification email, that way there wont be a mistake like this for other players in the future. Kind of sucks how one person can ruin someones main account with one game...

I just logged in today after not playing LoL for well over a year and a half. I too was told that my account is permabanned due to the use of third party programs.

I only played ARAMs mostly in the past.

I went to leagueofgraphs.com and checked my account for match activity. 110 days ago there were 6 soloqueue matches played. The previous games were all played 503 days ago in ARAM. It seems our accounts may have been compromised by people who had access to our actual passwords. Check leagueofgraphs.com, enter your summoner name and review the recent matches. I think whoever did this.. it was 4 months ago. The thing is, how are we supposed to combat this kind of sneaky compromise when there isn't an alert email or something telling us some random IP in Russia or whatever is on our account?
