Game freezes under 5GHz connection

After loading in, I can't move or buy items or use spells immediately. "Not immediately" means like 5 seconds. The game just halts, ping isn't correctly shown because the ping-showing function freezes too i guess. I tried Hextech Repair Tool but it didn't work.

This only happens when my PC is connected to a 5GHz. I tested it with 2 different 5GHz WiFi and 1 5GHz ether-net. Not working.

The game is absolutely normal under 2.4GHz network.

This problem was raised since 2011 and i can hardly believe riot didn't come out with anything.

If you're finding your game freezing while using the 5Ghz connection, it may be because the connection is weak. 5Ghz wifi can send more data (ie. faster download/upload speeds) but has a MUCH shorter range than 2.4Ghz.

It may also be an issue with your wifi card.

Unstable internet connections usually cause LoL to act weird and that's likely what you're experiencing.

I know from experience using my own 5Ghz wifi, I've had zero issues currently as I'm very close to my wifi router. On the flip side, I used to have quite a few issues and was forced to use 2.4Ghz at the previous place I lived because my computer was farther away from the wifi router.

If you don't have any issues (in LoL and other internet-y things) using the 2.4Ghz wifi, I'd suggest just using that. Sure, there's a speed hit, but unless you have some crazy 1000mbps internet, you shouldn't really notice much difference.

If it works well under 2.4 Ghz - but struggles under 5 Ghz - the issue is clearly on your side. Could be a faulty rooter/network adapter (be it malfunctioning, a bad driver/firmware or they're not set properly) or some issue with the ISP - while using the full bandwidth (cause 2.4 Ghz is limited by design).

How's your latency under 2.4 Ghz and 45 Ghz?

Try a simple ping for start, as in...

Press the Windows Key + R (you should get the "Run" tab there) and there copy paste the following:

ping 104.160.131.3 -t

Now observe your latency both using 2.4 Ghz and 5 Ghz (the ping should be constant). Check it for at least 7 minutes - to see if there's any spikes. You could check this as well - to see how the connection in your city while using the current ISP...

It's quite likely that all the past complaints on this topic (5 Ghz probing be to be unstable/unreliable while 2.4 Ghz was working fine) - were related to some issue on the user side. As can be seen even in the first topic from google - while searching something like "league of legends lag under 5 ghz..."
