Malzahar suppression bug vs Jax (Gameplay)

So I just got out of a ranked game as malz and I was top laning against Jax. Every time I would ult him, he would break out of my suppress early. This happened both 1v1 and in team fights. He never had quicksilver sash at any point in the game and I kept checking each time he broke suppress early. His build was Randuin's Omen, Titanic Hydra, Hextech Gunblade, Sterak's Gage, Trinity Force, and Mercury's Treads. Is there some bug with any of these items that might cause this to occur? This is the first time I have ever experienced this going against Jax. Any thoughts would be most helpful.
