Why cant i inv a friend that was silver 5 s6 and i was p2?

As u guys know the season 7 started today and i wanted to play with a friend.He was silver 5 last season and i was plat 2.When i want to duo with him i cant inv him,it says that the player needs to be atleast b5 or challenger. Help please

You can only play with people that are/were within 1 league of each other.

AFAIK, premade restrictions still apply.

You have to be in adjacent leagues (below Diamond) to queue together.

It wouldn't surprise me if they base it on last season's rank until you finish your placements. It is an easy way to cut out any initial boosting.
