Ashe Crit Dmg % Rune Bug

Crit Dmg % Runes do not work on Ashe. Yes her critical hit is not a typical crit, but it is still a "critical" hit. I spent 17015 IP on crit dmg % runes and I am very sad that they don't work.

Hmm, pretty sure that's not the intention and I can take a guess as to why it's happening. Thanks for the report, I'll pass it on to the designer who's been working on Ashe.

speaking of which, what is current thoughts on Ashe? I know this isn't exactly the board to discuss it, but is the rework considered a success? Failure? Over-powered? Under-powered?

(by the live team, I mean I think most players are pleased by it)

We're pretty happy with the rework so far, it's done a good job of hitting its primary goals of giving Ashe a more satisfying passive and adding a little bit more decision making her kit. Balance wise current thought is that she might be a bit strong, though I don't think we've got any specific changes planned at the moment. Even if she did need to be nerfed we'd want to identify whether she was just a bit strong generally, or whether she was doing a specific thing better than she ought to, and then make changes based off that assessment.

Fighting Ashe as any immobile melee champion feels extremely oppressive now lol Holy Jesus levels of damage while basically rooting me with her slow when she activates Q That's one of her strengths though, I guess

Shouldn't it be adding (in my case 40%) extra damage to Ashe's modified crit damage? http://gyazo.com/461c79834d2cb2237782d49dd471cd27

Also if this wasn't intended to work I would generously like my IP back thank you.

That doesn't inherently add damage to your attack. The actual equation looks like this:

Total Damage: 110 + (%Critical Strike Chance × (1 + Bonus Critical Strike Damage)) %AD

And, if you have 0% Critical Strike Chance, it looks like this:

Total Damage: 110 + ( 0 × (1 + Bonus Critical Strike Damage)) %AD

Which means that your 40% Crit Strike Damage will still mean zilch, just as it would if you had no Critical Strike Chance on any other champion.

I have no idea if it is actually working that way, as I haven't even played Ashe yet. However, her damage should not increase with those runes until you get some Critical Strike Chance.

Thats the point of this thread. It's a complete oversight by the design team. She shouldn't need Crit chance for the crit damage runes to be effective.

I think my reply below answered the OP's issue correctly. Take a peek if I missed a detail or something, if you like.

The math makes sense, but it shouldn't be that way. Whatever Ashe hits with her crit, when testing mine was 78 dmg at lvl 1, should be increased by 40%. It is a critical hit as said in the tooltip. Not a normal critical hit, but still a modified "critical" hit.

temporary solution, put a single crit chance rune into the page.

I tested this just now with this rune page. http://gyazo.com/3dacd2d98ee4f3184c7e5e61b9b5a602 I hit 71 no crit, then 80 with a crit. The tooltip said 110% ((+2%)due to runes). 1.12x71=79.52. The crit dmg % runes do not affect any of Ashe's damage regardless of crit chance.

1.3% rounding to 2% is not a likely result. The crit damage runes are covering the difference. If you're arguing the maths again, this solution was not for you. However, Crit Damage runes DO have a difference on your champion in the game, and the exact same difference that it does on anyone else (that is, X% higher crit damage... or exactly 0 effect without any Crit Chance). The only difference on Ashe is that your damage is averaged over its entire chance range, and then propped up a flat 10% for a little boost.

Don't forget, we are talking about the permaslow champion here; she isn't going to be given some random boost from those runes because they decided to smooth out her damage curve. Heck, she has 3 different damage steroids now (well, one Attack speed). Their intention was not to give a 40% damage boost on top of that when it doesn't even work that way on normal champions. Normal champions get only a 20% boost, assuming 100% crit chance (from 200% damage to 240% damage... in terms of percent increase over original, that's 20%).

So, once again, Crit Damage doesn't effect you without Crit Chance. That is this game. Some people get inherent Crit Chance (Trynda, Shaco), but without that, you'll need to add some early game to see any difference, and that difference will be multiplicative based on both stats. If you're missing one of the two, you will most certainly see poorer values in your damage (well, within reason. You start the game with +100% Critical Strike damage, so Crit Chance can pay dividends alone).

except that for some strange reason her perma slow isnt working. i have boots and maxed q. yet a no boots chogath simply walks away as if nothign was effecting him. either ashe is super bugged or he was hacking. im betting on he was hacking but i hope its just a bug.

Aight so this is actually a busted thread :^D Sorry to put you all through this haha! So what I found was a brawler's glove gives 8% crit dmg on Ashe. With the runes though it'll give 11% crit dmg. So the runes increase the % of the crit chance on the item, to make Ashe's final crit damage. A small oversight on my part X_x My bad! So then the question arises, should the runes affect her final damage or her modified damage. Final damage meaning her passive is calculated and then the runes applied, or her modified damage meaning the runes apply to her passive calculations. With other champions the runes stack with IE and such. Anivia can basic attack a minion for 60, 120(crit no runes), 144~ (runes), 174~ (runes and IE Excluding the 80 AD bonus). Ashe isn't bugged after all, but maybe her calculations could use a little change?
