Difficulty banning in champ select. Connectivity issue (I think)

I'm going to preface this with I think this is where this is supposed to be posted but I'm not sure.

I was first pick in champ select and was attempting to ban champions. I searched vi and repeatedly tried to click on her but only got the loading wheel cursor and then a disconnected pop up came up. I was able to click okay on the pop up and try again but got the same result. This entire time I was able to type in the chat box below and respond to other people in the lobby. First ban timed out I wasn't able to get one to register before it was the other persons turn. They banned so i tried this again. First couple of attempts resulted in the same thing as before but after a few more tries my ban stuck and it was back to the other team. At this point I'm the only one talking in the lobby so I'm assuming I was still connected as my chat was appearing but didn't get any responses. Last ban comes up and I'm trying and trying to ban but just getting the loading cursor, no pop up this time. The timer hits 0 and I'm just sitting here, I can still type in the chat box and it is appearing in the lobby but nobody has said anything (that I could see) since my first turn to ban. I message somebody on my friends list just to see if I've completely lost connection to the client and was able to send and receive messages with them. After sitting in this screen for probably 5-6 minutes my client crashed giving me a notice of disconnecting from pvp.net. I tried to restart my client and got a firewall/connection error which I've never ever gotten before all the while my internet connection is perfectly fine.

Restarted my computer and it all seems to be business as usual, my client started up just fine but I've received a dodge penalty... not to happy about that... Anyone have any idea what just happened to me?
