My skin isn't working

Not sure if sure how to tag this so I'll just describe my problem. My friend gifted me the Underworld Twisted Fate skin. It shows that I own it, but even though I select it in the pregame lobby it still gives me the default skin in game. It's done this two times so far and I'm not sure what the problem is.
