[Client] Launcher Freezes PC

Since the last major patch (so for roughly a week or so), whenever I launch LoL the first time, it instantly locks up my PC for anything from 30 - 60 seconds. During this time background activities continue to happen (music continues to play, etc.) but I have no control at all over my PC and the mouse cursor will not move. After 30 seconds or so I get control back, but LoL will not launch and I always have to manually kill it, despite it showing up in Task Manager.

The second or any subsequent launch, the game works fine and there is no issue. Once I reboot, same issue, and the first time locks up my PC again, and so on and so forth.

I tried a repair yesterday hoping that would fix it, but the same thing happened when I launched just. LoL is the only game this happens with, and as I said, only since the last patch a week or so ago.

I'd like to +1 on this. Everytime I boot up my PC I can start the patcher just fine. Even if I hit launch, nothing happens. But after I log in the PC freezes for anywhere between a few seconds to half a minute. As OP descriped I can't move my cursor, tab through windows or do anything else. If music is playing, it will continue. I can keep talking via voicechat (not sure if only when voice activation or if push-to-talk would work, too). Should I quit and restart League, everything is fine.

Also, after the freeze ends, all tiles on the home screen are black. Their captions are there, the links work fine if I click a tile, but the image get's replaced by pure blackness.

EDIT & FYI: Ever since this problem first occured I have repaired and reinstalled LoL but in both cases it didn't fix the issue.
