Constantly backdating

Hello guys, so every time i start my client nowadays it needs to reset to a previous version and then patch again. My laptop is fairly old and my new gaming rig hasn't arrived yet, but I have used this laptop to play league since I started 5 years ago and never had an issue until this new patch. Anyone else have this problem and how can I fix it?
