Cannot log in to my main account but can with smurfs.

I was playing then went to go get some food yet when I came back I found out I was disconnected from the chat and game. This may be because I was idle for too long. Regardless, I can log in as a smurf but whenever I put in the correct username and password I am returned with (an unexpected error occurred while logging in. Please try again. If this issue persists, contact support at support.riotgames.com) I don't believe this is an issue with my firewall or internet because I can easily access my other account. But when I try to log in again the client freezes with the authenticating symbol. Some help would be very much appreciated. I don't want to resort only using my smurf now.
