Shard took essence but didnt upgrade [CLIENT]

I disenchanted 2 chards to get the essence then I upgraded my Caitlyn Shard. I got a "crafting failed" pop up and then my essence disappeared but the shard staid in my loot. How do I get the essence back? Also, the (Wukong and Trundle) chards that I disenchanted for the payment didn't return so I totally lost the 2880 essence.
