Friends List not automatically updating

I've had this reoccurring problem in my client throughout the new patches where the friends list won't update when my friends activity changes.

For example, the client may show me that a friend is in a game but it won't update when they leave the game. And when I hover over their profile icon, it'll still show them in a game the time still counting.

I've also had problems where it will show a friend is online when in reality, they're offline.

I don't know if this is just me or if others are having the same issue.
