Jhin's q not bouncing 4 times

I main Jhin, you can probably tell by the name, duh. So I've been recently encountering the fact that my q doesn't always bounce to the next target in line and instead bounces only 1-3 times even though there's a unit right next to it when i auto attack right after using q
