Usually you'd be able to double click the Status Comment to edit its contents, but when I attempt to do this, nothing happens. I tried re logging to resolve the issue, but that didn't seem to produce any results.

I can but i just had to click next to the green button

Same issue here. I can change my away and available status, but I can't for the life of me pull up the text box to edit the text. :/
Our bad! This was not an intended change. We're aiming to have this fixed up as soon as possible. In the meantime, you can set your status message using the options menu in the buddy list.
You have to click on the very right side of the text box
