Bug. Kicked me out of the game to update

Hello. I was playing League of Legends about 10 minutes ago from now 8:12 PM and the game crashed. i logged back on but it said i needed to update. i pressed update and it ended up being a 1000+ mb update and usually it is about 300-400 mb.

The game kicked me out just for a update, i was playing a ranked game and it was getting to the end. I was wondering if it was going to give me a penalty. This is the second time this has happened to me. the other one was probably about 3 months ago.
