Malzahar ult interaction

Haven't tried this with other comp's, but anyways.

Had a Malphite on my team this morning, while I'm Malzahar. I ult an Ahri, and while she's suppressed, Malphite trucks in with his ult knocking him into the air. Now, since he got knocked up, my ult gets cancelled, and then it was instantly refunded. I put my ult back on the now severely bruised ahri and she goes down. My question's the interaction between (what I'm guessing is) any knock-back ability, while Malzahars' ult is being used. Instantly refunding it allows me to switch targets, and essentially use my ult twice, or three times depending on my team composition, putting down a fairly absurd amount of cc AND dmg. I'll have to do a little more testing to see where else it works (Rammus' ball, Gragas bodyslam, just to name a few others), but it's the first time I've come across this.

Is this interaction correct? Obviously accidental's happen and a teammate can ruin your ult... But i can suppress someone for 2 out of the 2.5 seconds, and just coordinate with one of my teammates to smash into him, and it lets me immediately suppress someone else. I feel like it should be on a timer or something, at least based on how long your first channel was. Otherwise if that's how it's supposed to be then I'll continue to abuse it.
