How the the Friends List STILL be bugged?

There are threads that are years old talking about this bug, where your friends are "in game" for 100mins, when actually they finished and logged off 30 mins ago. Or friends get mad because you didn't invite them to a game because the client said they were IN a game.

I don't understand how Riot can launch a whole new client, update everything, and just ignore this bug that occurs everywhere. It undermines the basic experience of playing the game with your friends.
