I don't think Illaoi is broken. I'm a big proponent of strategy in the pick ban phase. When I saw Illaoi in champ select, being a pre-buff Illaoi player, I already knew one of her weaknesses is kiting and disengaging when she ults. That's cool, awesome.

I play a lot of Evelynn, and when playing Evelynn have gone against some Illaoi's. One of the ways I beat them is out-microing the tentacles swings during her ult to dodge all the swings with Eve's W on. I've been able to do this consistently and things seem to work as intended. Knowing this I picked Ahri for mid lane, I was mid this game, in hopes of utilizing her mobility later to out-micro Illaoi, dodge all her tentacles, and open up kill opportunities for my team.

What I got instead was Heat-seeking, Undodgeable, Tentacle Spaghetti. I say Spaghetti because this really doesn't look like healthy gameplay interactions... Where are the area indicators? Do they go away in her ult? Why did they swing twice within the (sub-second I think) lockout of Ahri's R? She was Charmed anyway so if you tell me it's her W I'm still confused. Is this just a problem when using dashes against her, Eve's W seemed fine? This really looks like Azir/Syndra Spaghetti syndrome to me. I clearly dodged with my R the first round of tentacles, slow down the video but they appear to hit me anyway, at least one of them does. I'll buy it if you tell me I was mid flight through the bottom tentacle as it applies its damage..... Mid swing instead of when it hits the ground, not sure? The two closer tentacles though appear to lock onto me and even if my flash were up, judging by the range of that top-left seemingly cait ulting tentacle, it doesn't look like it was going to let me dodge.

I think if we could clean up cases like this Illaoi is in a really good spot. She's fantastic in comps where people can bring her greater windows to actually connect her ult and yet as long as you can track who she W'd and the aiming indicators actually show on the ground, dodging them is a breeze.

Maybe I shouldn't have put this in the Bug section but to me this really seems like something that IS NOT working as intended... Maybe it is, who knows. I'm not a dev clearly.

They swing twice because if Illaoi successfully connects with her E any tentacles in the area automatically slam the soul. The 2nd slam is produced by her W. This isn't a bug. If Illaoi misses her E, she loses a lot of damage. That's when you move in on her. That's how she was made. If she lands an E run away, if she misses go in. Pretty simple.
