Jax E and Nasus Q

So I was playing top with Jax and went against a Nasus, I was trying to do small trades but I always ended up losing and I didn't understand why until I see that Nasus Q was passing through my E barrier, in his skill it clearly states it is a AA that deals extra damage, which is different from a skill that applies on-hit effects, is this supposed to work like this?

The game stops the AA damage but not the damage of the Q itself. His E is weird like that.

AA mods can't be dodged, it dodges the AA damage but the spell damage will still go through.
