Can't add new support items to specific item slots

Basically, unlike other items, I cannot assign new support items to specific item slots in the custom item filter. I don't know if this has to do with them not being "active" items at stage 1, but since we are not given the option to search for the stage 2 and 3 items, I also cannot use that as a workaround once they are upgraded.
