Kicked in ranked champ select for not selecting champion before timer runs out

Was in a ranked champion select and was third pick. When my turn came, the timer got down to about 10 seconds then kicked me for not selecting a champion. After i returned to the home screen, I could hear the timer ticking down to 0 as if i was still in the champion select...
