Assist bug [GAMEPLAY]

Patch 5.2. I am Jax, jungling from the red side. I gank for my Gnar top-lane, can't remember who it was. Last tick of Gnar's ignite got the kill, but I did not receive the assist on the scoreboard. No word on whether or not I got XP or gold from the assist but it didn't seem like I got the gold, at least. Even if it's just a scoreboard bug, this seems like a pretty big issue in terms of clarity/transparency.
